Ok, it's March 09. Time to update this blog! Please give me a while. I'll post updated dates next to each entry when they're done, so you'll know how, well, up to date each offer is. Any news, advice or ideas, please mail me smackitgood(at)gmail(dot)com

The Roundstone nomihodia plan

The Roundstone is offering an 'earlybird special'. From 5 to 7pm, Mon to Thu.

Check it out:So that includes Guinness, Kilkenny, Heineken, Asahi, Sapporo, Lowenbrau, Ebisu and Hoegarden plus 5 food dishes (albeit probably small ones). All that for 2,800yen.
Not bad. I'm liking Thursdays selection.

Popeye 'Oh Sama set' offer:

Popeye's beer bar in Ryogoku offers an 'Oh Sama set'. This means a free small meal with every beer that is marked with a crown on their menu (until 8pm). Out of up to 70beers, they have around 8 or more marked with this offer. Food varies from sausages to fried chicken to a small sized pizza. Not quite a happy hour as such but certainly adds to the value.
Not only that, if you join up for a member's card, you'll recieve a postcard in the mail every month for a free drink offer, plus a small discount off your tab. Just sign up in Popeyes. It's free. You'll also get loads of mails in Japanese, telling you of their offers.

The Black Sheep happy hour:

The Black Sheep Irish pub in Ikebukuro has a happy hour going from 6 to 9pm. Draught beer goes for 500-700yen. Not bad.Their draught includes Guinness, Stella, Pedigree, Bass and Kirin.

Hobgoblin Happy Hour:

This is a great deal, while it lasts.
(Unfortunately, I've been told it may have come to an end. I've got to check up on this.)Available at all Hobgoblin pubs, basically it's buy 1 get the same 1 free. You have to have the same beer (but if it gets busy, they forget what you originally ordered, so you can basically have what you like). They give you a token when you order and you hand it in later for the free beer. You are not supposed to share the beer with anyone else, either (why would you want to do that?). I think the Roppongi Hobgoblin is the best place to do this (better draught selection). It's also on at the Legends Sports bar, next door. Valid for draught beer and bottles. Not bad.p.s. They used to have an all you can drink offer for English teachers, but I see they have long since put a stop to that. Bastards. Here's a link from the good old days. Dave and I enjoyed that one.

Cheers Happy Hour:

Cheers is a nice 'Belgian' bar, in Yokohama. They have a nice wide range of draught beers and an impressive selection of bottled beers (lots of Belgians).
Monday to Thursday, from 4 to 7pm, 200yen off all draught beers.(note they also have a tasting set offer. 3 small glasses of any draught beer for around 1,000yen)
______________________________________
p.s. Print out this coupon for 200yen off your 1st pint - has to be a Japanese craft beer and has to be a pint.

Bulldog Happy Hour:

The Bulldog World Beer Pub has an ok happy hour, with a nice beer selection.
From 5 to 7pm, 10 to 20% off draught beer.
The 'normal' beers are 20% off (Guinness, Hoegaarden) and the guest beers 10%.
Although my special Baird Pacific Coast porter was not covered, so check before you order!
Around 10beers on tap. e.g. on 9th April they had Guinness, Killkenny, Hoegaarden, Bass pale ale, Lowenbrau, Bell-veu kriek, Asahi super shite, Leffe brown, Hideji dark lager(rotation), Baird pacific porter (rotation) & Minoh coffee stout.

Warrior Celt Happy hour:

The Warrior Celt british pub in Ueno has a good happy hour.
From 5 to 7pm, all beers only 600yen.Including the Shepheard Neame range (Spitfire, Bishops Finger, 1698), a very nice range of real ciders.
They used to have a REALLY GOOD happy hour, but unfortunately English Tim (thank you) informed me that the management, in all their wisdom, took bottles off the list. Blast. Thought it was too good to be true. However, all is not lost, as draught is usually preferable to a bottle (as long as it's good enough quality) the the stuff they have on tap is hard to find elsewhere.
